TAME THE MONKEY - Minds Came be tamed

Dear Mother,

Estranged from you, locked in air conditioned office, I yearn for your lap. I can see you just outside my window, as you wait patiently for me to go through innumerable chores of the day. Your presence is so cool, assuring, nurturing. And yet, I hardly find time to meet you. Of course I know that every cell in my body is crying for you, I don’t even breathe well in this artificial environment. You know what, ever since Ravan, the 10 headed demon has possessed me, I’m out of my senses. You look at me disapprovingly, sometimes even scoffing the arrogance of the ten headed demon, but what else will only the intelligence of the heads do? Your love is deeply buried in my heart’s knowing, a voice I’ve stopped listening to. My Mother, forgive me, your daughter Sita waits for the long epic drama of this planet to end, so I come back to your womb, as where else will I get the solace?

Yours,
Sita

Hello friends,

I had no choice but connect today, our day with Mother Earth, that transcendences all boundaries of geography and human limitations. The day to celebrate unconditional love and forgiveness, our joy in the heart that thrills at bird’s chirping and flowers blooming. I’m sitting in my Singapore office, with the most beautiful view of Mother in all her colors and shades. The Ash from her fire in the heart is still floating in the skies far away. The images are scary, time to say I’m sorry Mom, I’ll slow down and spend more time doing right things in life. We are concentrating on businesses suffering, airlines and passengers going through harassment, but do we ponder for a while also on how these times when we got stranded away from loved ones that we realized what our first priorities are? There was no choice but slow down the pace, wait, and wait and wait. The time of waiting could have been used for reflection and prayers; however, it was spent more on anxiety to get back to business and our faster speed of life.

I’m just offering a choice to look at the Earth day in different way. Not just a day to preserve planet, go green or clear our conscious by attending events. But choosing this day to listen to our heart’s voice which still has its umbilical chord to Mother Earth preserved. Thanks to my MBA participants, I too Google out a lot, and this is what I discovered as interesting quote for this day.

Margaret Mead in 1978 declared: "EARTH DAY is the first holy day which transcends all national borders, yet preserves all geographical integrities, spans mountains and oceans and time belts, and yet brings people all over the world into one resonating accord, is devoted to the preservation of the harmony in nature… EARTH DAY draws on astronomical phenomena in a new way – which is also the most ancient way – by using the vernal Equinox, the time when the Sun crosses the equator making the length of night and day equal in all parts of the Earth. To this point in the annual calendar, EARTH DAY attaches no local or divisive set of symbol
