TAME THE MONKEY - Minds Came be tamed

Hello,

Today is Uttarayan- Sun transiting to the northern hemisphere. A day marked with lots of spiritual significance. Also a day known as Kite Festival in certain parts of India. Kite; could the symbol of our soul or spirit wanting to connect with the Universal Energy as well, who knows?

New year dawn I realized how different our beginning becomes if we grow out of looking at the calendar only for 365 days or 12 months, and connect with Mother Earth as completing one round of her Universal journey. Every mundane moment or routine day is in reality a new place in the Universe and hence different perspective. This world and everything in it, exists in two simultaneous and factual states: being and becoming. Being is the physical material state and becoming is the invisible waves of possibility and probability surrounding it. Everything always exists in both reality states all the time, the is and could be.

Though this simple truth is now supported by sciences- the so-called practical and hard-core science of Physics and Biology, Tao and Yoga always expressed this truth. If we stop for a moment and listen to our heart’s voice, we’ll get a confirmation of this Truth. How ever, why do we find it difficult to accept it? Why do we become a product of our limited self-image rather than allowing the unfolding to happen? Why does our education and social system creates bonsais out of us rather than nurturing the grandeur that is possible? Let the past be past as we enter 2007. As Arthur Koestler says: “ The purposiveness of all vital processes, the strategy of genes and the power of the exploratory drive in animal and man, all seem to indicate that the pull of the future is as real as the pressure of the past.”

Thus being part of the futuristic team when we are at Breakpoint in our evolution, we need to remember that this new form of change is not understandable based on past experience. The majority of people will not see that a major change is required and will tend to reinforce, defend and protect the past. A minority will change to the new rules initiating the transformation of the entire system.

Late last year my students at Dubai and Singapore collected together and asked me to initiate ‘Who Am I?’ group with them. Knowing oneself is the beginning of change. The best gift we can give the next generation is the space and freedom to understand life on their own rather than forcing our belief systems. They’ve been meeting regularly since and are self-sustaining their meditation meets. They both have very distinct characteristics- Dubai group prefers discussions on spirituality and Life, while Singapore group meditates and practices breathing sadhana. I witness them like a mother would indulge in nurturing two kids different than each other and yet growing up beautifully in their own way. As I write this and as you read this, our responsibility as Task Force for better world with new three ‘R’s becomes a commitment- create a world that has Respect, Rhythm and Responsibility.
